Upcoming subscriptions.csv changes

Next week on Wednesday Sept. 5th we'd like to make 2 changes to the Subscriptions export, i.e. subscriptions.csv:

  1. We will remove the currency symbol from all amount-based columns.  For example, instead of "$99.00" we will begin returning "99.00".  Assuming you import the CSV file in to a spreadsheet program, this is likely a welcome change as you can format the columns however you like
  2. The exported file will have a new, dynamic filename: "subscriptions-<subdomain>-<YYYYMMDD>-<HHMM>.csv"
Also, we may continue to add new columns of data to this export BUT we will only add at the end.  Note that we include a header row (which you should find helpful when parsing), but we have listened to feedback that some of you would like to rely on the ordering of the columns as well - so we won't go changing those anymore.

I'm liking the update posts, great way to inform people of what's happening behind the scenes!  Keep them coming!  My recommendation is to see the Account/Company Name in the Subscriptions export!  Cheers.

That is excellent news about the addition of new columns to the end.  I would still love to have access to the csv files from within Google Spreadsheet.  Are you still investigating that?

Perfect, I see the Company field is now added, thanks Michael!  Only minor, but any chance we can sort the order of headers?  Currently the Company & Customer Phone Number fields are the very end columns of the excel spreadsheet, any chance these fields can be moved next to the Customer Name field?  Cheers!

    Corrina,

I agree that those fields would make more sense if they were moved, but we've gotten separate feedback that reordering the columns is troublesome for those who have automated processes around this export.  So, we've decided to only add fields at the end for now.

Thanks Corrina, good to hear.  We're adding the company name right now - not having it appears to be an oversight.

    Thanks,

    Michael

Pete, we probably won't offer any automatic export to Google Docs, but the CSV file we export can be easily imported there - I actually do this myself.
